We have some pretty amazing walking and biking tracks for your family to explore! From gentle riverside strolls to the thrill of the mountain bike tracks!

Visit the White Horse

Visit the iconic White Horse Monument and soak in the spectacular panoramic views on the new viewing platforms - from the Southern Alps to the Pacific Ocean.

Waimate Rocks

Join in the fun, go rock hunting around the district with Waimate Rocks, remember to take a photo of yourself and the rock and post to the Waimate Rocks Facebook page.

Waimate Event Centre

Burn off some school holiday energy with fun activities at the Waimate Event Centre. Choose from indoor wall climbing, indoor soccer and skating to music.

Victoria Park

A great place for the family to hang out. There's a bird aviary and a wallaby enclosure, a cool playground, picnic spots, sports facilities and manicured gardens.

Geocaching

Join the world's largest treasure hunt...go Geocaching. There are plenty of sites to find around the Waimate District. A word of warning.......it's slightly addictive.

The Old Tin Shed

Let the kids’ unleash their inner artist at the The Old Tin Shed School Holiday Programme. Join in the fun of the Art Club Workshops. Bookings are essential!

Disc Golf

Two great courses to choose from, with a 9 basket at Victoria Park and an 18 basket at Knottingley Park, disc golf is a great game the entire family can enjoy.

Parks & Reserves

Explore the perfect places to relax, walk or enjoy a picnic. From a leafy arboretum at Knottingley Park to a nationally important wetland at Lake Wainono.

EnkleDooVery Korna

Our most popular attraction with visitors to the district - you can hand feed wallabies at the Wallaby Park. Get up close with these furry critters for a unique experience.

Waimate Museum

The museum provides a great insight into the local heritage of the area. There is an excellent rock and moa display as well as a large selection of horse drawn vehicles.
