Fishing & Boating
Fishing and boating are some of the most popular activities for locals and visitors to the Waimate District.
The area's lakes, rivers and coast have an abundance of fish from trout, or seasonal whitebait to salmon and Kahawai. The water also makes for summer fun for swimmers and boaties.
Hunting
Waimate District has a range of hunting opportunities that can be accessed on Department of Conservation land or through private shoots.
Wild game in the Hunters Hills includes wallabies, rabbits, hares, goats, and pigs.
