Bushtown Steam Up Day 2019
Steam enthusiasts will be in their element at the Bushtown Steam Up Day on Sunday. Showcasing a fabulous experience of the old Waimate saw milling era come to life! Champion axemen, drama queens, steam traction engine rides, and Edwardian heritage are just some of the features at this year’s ‘Steam up Day’.
So what is Bushtown's Steam up day all about?
Steam Up Day is back and bigger than ever! With plenty of dramatic steam action including the Bill O’Donnell Sawmill in operation, a recently restored vintage Hornsby portable engine (1887), and steam traction engine trailer rides.
If steam and noise aren’t your thing there’s plenty more on offer including:
wood chopping displays
handcraft and food stalls
The Bushman’s Bar, miniature engine displays
activities for kids plus
live music & entertainment by The Drama Queens

12.20pm Official opening of Steam Up Day : “Mayor George Dash”

2.15pm Tug of war. Traction engine versus the public . Cross cut saw competition
