Waimate Strawberry Fare
This colourful festival celebrates one of Waimate district’s claims to fame – the delicious berries that grow abundantly in our sunny climate. Held on the second Saturday in December, the Strawberry Fare attracts crowds of around 14,000 for a day of free family entertainment at Seddon Square and Boland Park.
The event includes live music, 250 fantastic stalls, fabulous food, and thousands of punnets of berryfruit.
Strawberries have been grown in the Waimate District since 1880. In 1984 it was decided to celebrate the strawberry as a community event.
